“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” II Corinthians 4:16-18

This was the first day in a very long time that I have had no pain. Thank you, Jesus! Not only did I not experience physical pain today, I also felt the peace and comfort that only the Lord can bring to my emotions. It was a welcome calm to my otherwise unpredictable and pain-filled moments over the past few months. The phrase, “this too shall pass”, has been going over and over in my mind today. I was thinking about all of the difficulties that family and friends of mine are currently experiencing. There has been an onslaught of attacks lately…unprecedented like I’ve never seen before. But as I was contemplating all of these situations, I heard that phrase over and over in my spirit — THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Paul speaks of our afflictions in II Corinthians, and describes them as light. We know that Paul’s afflictions were anything but light, and yet he still describes them as such. But he also admonishes his readers that these afflictions are only temporal. Everything that we see here on earth is just temporary. We are in a dressing room for eternity at present. If there is one thing that I have realized over the past few weeks, is that life is just a vapour. We do not know how much time we have on this earth, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, set our sights on the Lord, and serve Him with our whole hearts, our eternal reward will be in heaven. That’s when life will truly begin for us.

I just wanted to share this little word with someone today who may need to hear it. What you are going through may be so heart-wrenching and painful. You may not know how you will even make it through, and I do not want to make light of your situation at all. But I believe that this pain you are currently experiencing will eventually pass. All things are possible with God. Just reach out to Him. The Lord will bring healing to your heart, and bring beauty out of your ashes.

The God of heaven and earth is cheering you on from the eternal realm. Do not lose heart. Remember…this too shall pass.
