Our Great Hope
AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

Each day of this journey is completely different from the next. I am so thankful that the Lord spoke to Dad's heart at the beginning of this year admonishing us and our church family to take this year 'one day at a time'. The minutes feel like days, and the days feel like weeks as we count down the hours until Mom's homegoing service on Wednesday. It's interesting that this is the goal. Our grieving doesn't end at that service. But it will help to bring closure and to start us on a new path to a new normal...as hard as that may be.
My thoughts today were of our future hope. One day we will see Mom again...that brings me great hope and comfort. In II Samuel 12, David fasted, prayed, and wept for his infant son who was extremely sick. When the child died, David got up, cleaned himself, and began to eat. The servants were confused. Why did David pray so passionately and weep so bitterly while the child was sick, but got up and moved on when the child died? He made a statement that gives great hope to those whose loved ones have gone on before them into the realms of glory. He said in verse 23, "I shall go to him..." His son could never come to him again, but he knew that he would go to his son in heaven when it was his time to go. That gives us great hope.
Mom cannot come to us, but we can go to her. When we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and when our purpose on this earth is complete, we will meet our loved ones again.
We miss Mom so much. One day very soon we will see her again, alongside our Lord Jesus. This brings us such comfort. It is our great hope!
