He Is Always There
AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

Today would have been Mom and Dad’s 56th anniversary. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1970. It was a hard day today. Especially for Dad. These ‘firsts’ in grieving are never easy. The pain of separation feels just a little more tangible on days like today. It breaks my heart not to share a Facebook post wishing Mom and Dad a happy anniversary. Some days it still does not seem real. But, unfortunately, it is real.
We still take it one day at a time. We normally don’t plan ahead, but take each day as it comes. The days come and go, and although some days feel long, time seems to be flying by. We are another day closer to our eternal home where Dad will be reunited with Mom forever.
The Lord gives us strength when we are at our weakest. If it were not for His love for us and His promise of our eternal home in heaven, I don’t know how we would make it through days like this. His presence sustains us, even at times when we don’t always feel His presence — He is always there.
