God's Perfect Timing
AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

God’s timing is always perfect. Sometimes we think it is the midnight hour or that it's too late for a breakthrough, but the Lord comes through — even at the darkest moments of our lives.
If anyone had told me just a week and a half ago that I would be writing daily updates each night from a hospital room next to my mother fighting a fierce battle with cancer, I would not have believed them. Sometimes it feels like a horrible dream, and I keep trying to wake myself up. But, oddly enough (maybe not so oddly), I feel such peace and assurance through it all. The tears still spill out over my cheeks, and the pain of seeing a loved one suffer is still very real, but the presence of Jesus is bringing a stillness and calm to us in this raging storm.
This morning we were advised that a team, headed up by Mom’s oncologist, would be meeting with us to discuss some things. We knew by the way we were told about this meeting that it could be one we would not want to have. So, in the hours waiting for the team to arrive, we worshipped. I felt to bring my mini portable keyboard to Mom’s room days before, and our solace each day is in singing songs onto the Lord for His goodness in our lives.
We did not know exactly when the team would arrive, so we waited. In the waiting, something unexpected happened. My phone rang and on the other end of the line was a prayer warrior from John G. Lake Ministries (a healing ministry that ministers worldwide). As soon as Mom was admitted to the hospital, I contacted many ministries and prayer lines to pray for her. This ministry decided to call us at 1 pm today. The lady on the other end of the line asked to be put on speaker phone and she prayed a powerful healing prayer over Mom. She declared life and not death. She declared healing and wholeness over her body. She declared the Word of God into our circumstance. And when she was finished, Dad said that this is the report that we were going to believe, not the report of the doctors. As soon as that statement was out of his mouth, the door opened with Mom’s doctor (not a team) coming to give the usual daily update…not the bleak and possibly devastating report that we were preparing our hearts for. Although in the natural it looks like Mom has a long road ahead of her, and the coming days ahead are crucial for her, we still press forward one day at a time in this journey.
The Lord knew that we needed a prayer of faith declaring the report of the Lord before receiving a report from the doctor. We don’t go by what we see. We don’t go by what we hear. We go by what the Word of God says. The Word says that Mom is healthy and whole by the stripes that Jesus bore upon His back. We stand on His promises. God’s timing is perfect.
